The NTA: The beginning

The Academy started at River Ridge High School in Pasco County Florida with 37 students in August, 2016. Some students are passionate about teaching when they enter the NTA; others are just exploring the possibility of teaching. The program is designed to provide authentic experience for students to explore the teaching career prior to entering college. With the hands-on opportunities provided, many decide teaching should be their career choice. Most of the students who graduate from the NTA program go on to college education programs to become teachers. Partnerships with Hudson Elementary, Gulfside Elementary, and Schrader Elementary represent some of the schools where NTA students gain meaningful experience by working directly with students.
